After recovering from a toe injury that ruled him out of the Sri Lanka Test series, 24-year-old B. Sai Sudharsan returned to form for India-A against Australia-A in Puducherry.
Indian southpaw B. Sai Sudharsan has stated that his recent period of injury rehabilitation provided plenty of learning opportunities, insisting the break was not frustrating. The 24-year-old missed last month's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a toe injury before making his return in the 'Test' between India-A and Australia-A in Puducherry.
Sudharsan made an immediate impact upon his comeback, hitting a fifty in his first innings. He was on track to score another half-century in the second innings before his sweep shot against Todd Murphy went awry.
Reflecting on his return after the third day of play, Sudharsan noted how much he missed being in the middle and discussed his approach to refining daily habits. "It’s not frustrating at all. It’s just the journey we are going through. And our bodies also respond to certain things. We are also refining our habits every day. So, it’s a good thing," he said.
Addressing his second-innings dismissal, Sudharsan explained that putting pressure on the bowlers was key on such pitches, though he acknowledged his execution could improve. "Maybe the execution could have been better from my side. But at least, I feel there’s a lot of learning from this game. And obviously, after getting set, maybe I can make it a bigger innings rather than getting out to cheeky shots," he said.
Looking ahead to future assignments with the national team, including upcoming matches against New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Sudharsan highlighted that prior playing experience in England and Australia helps simulate conditions and clarify preparation needs.
