UAE-based consortium Al Fursan has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters from the Magnum group.
UAE-based sports and sports tech-consortium Al Fursan has officially become the owner of ISL club Kerala Blasters after signing a definitive agreement to acquire 100% shares from the Magnum group. Led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qaismi, a member of the ruling royal family of the UAE, the acquisition will be completed in phases over the next eight months during the 2026-27 season without disrupting operations.
Kerala-based sports management firm Ofioh Sporty has been appointed as the operational partner. Its CEO, Thameem Anwar, and co-founder, Sharath Kuniyil, will oversee day-to-day operations. Commenting on the transition, Anwar stated, "The club is in safe hands."
In an Instagram post, Kerala Blasters expressed confidence in the new ownership: "The incoming ownership shares our belief in what Kerala Blasters represent and will carry the club forward with the ambition, care and respect it deserves. We would like to thank them for their thoughtfulness and professionalism throughout the process and wish them the very best for the journey ahead."
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Ashley Westwood will remain as head coach. The team's training camp begins in Chennai on Wednesday, with a full squad announcement expected this week. Kerala Blasters will kick off their ISL campaign against Inter Kashi on October 11, before playing their first home match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium against Mumbai FC on October 25.
