Williams driver Alexander Albon says new regulations suit aggressive driving styles like championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli's while admitting he has struggled to adapt to battery deployment changes.
Williams driver Alexander Albon believes that new car regulations favour drivers who employ a more aggressive driving style, pointing to championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli's strong performances in his second year as a key example.
Speaking ahead of the Bahrain GP in Sepang, Malaysia, the Thai-British driver explained that smaller cars and weaker rear tyres relative to front tyres reward drivers like Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton who push entries.
Albon also revealed that adapting to battery deployment was a major challenge because it heavily relies on braking, upshifting, downshifting, and especially throttle control. He admitted the changes went against his natural driving style, noting that by October he had only just begun to feel natural driving the car.
With Williams sitting ninth in the standings after finishing fifth in 2025, the team has shifted its focus to next year's car. Albon noted that simulator work and internal team discussions are geared towards next season, stating that holding back current development is sometimes necessary to make a bigger step forward later.
