Jammu and Kashmir rallied from 166 for eight to score 278 and secure a 41-run first-innings lead over Rest of India on day two of their Irani Cup clash.
Jammu and Kashmir mounted a brilliant rearguard fightback on day two of the Irani Cup fixture at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, recovering from a perilous 166 for eight to finish their first innings on 278. The effort gave J&K a 41-run lead over Rest of India's first-innings total of 237.
Having resumed the day at 21 for two, J&K found themselves in deep trouble after losing eight wickets. However, captain Paras Dogra (75 off 143 balls) and Lone Nasir (64 off 58 balls) mounted a decisive 64-run stand for the ninth wicket. Dogra had earlier shared a 101-run fifth-wicket partnership with Abdul Samad, who scored a stroke-filled 57 off 88 balls.
Facing short-pitched bowling from Rishabh Pant's attack, Nasir launched a counterattack, striking eight boundaries and three sixes. Following Dogra's dismissal, Nasir combined with Sunil Kumar for a 48-run tenth-wicket partnership. Left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary stood out for Rest of India, finishing with figures of 5 for 78 in 19 overs.
In their second essay, Rest of India reached 24 for one at stumps in 15 overs. Opener Shikhar Mohan fell to Sunil Kumar for two runs, leaving Sanat Sangwan (10) and Sudip Gharami (10) unbeaten at the crease ahead of day three.
