India claimed fourth place at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya with an 85-medal haul, powered by historic gold performances in golf, archery, shooting, boxing, and team sports.
India concluded its campaign at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in fourth place on the medals table, securing a total of 85 medals. China led the tournament with 341 medals, Japan placed second with 250 medals, and the Republic of Korea finished third with 143 medals.
The campaign featured landmark victories across multiple sports. In golf, Pranavi Urs became the first Indian woman golfer to win an Asian Games gold medal, maintaining a one-stroke lead in the final round and leading the country to a team silver. In archery, teenager Kumkum Mohod defeated South Korea's Oh Yejin in a shoot-out to win gold in the women's individual recurve event, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asiad medal in the discipline. Kumkum also teamed up with Ankita Bhakat and Kirti to secure India's first-ever gold in the Women's Team Recurve event against South Korea.
India swept all three compound archery events, including a 238-237 gold medal victory over China in the men's compound team event. The women's team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep, and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated China for gold, while the mixed team beat South Korea in a shoot-off to claim gold and seal a spot at the LA 2028 Olympics. Additional archery accolades included silver for Kumkum Anil Mohod and Dhiraj Bommadevara in the Recurve Mixed Team event, bronze for Neeraj Chauhan in men's individual recurve, and bronze for Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru in men's individual compound.
In team sports, the Indian men's cricket team won gold by defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final. The men's hockey team earned gold with a 5-1 win over Malaysia, while the women's hockey team won its first Asian Games gold in 44 years with a 1-0 victory against China. In boxing, Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain secured gold in the Women's 75kg category, becoming the second Indian female boxer in history to win Asiad gold. Bronze medals in boxing were added by Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Kapil Pokhariya (men's 90kg), and Narender Berwal (men's +90kg).
In shooting, Neeru Dhanda became the first Indian shooter to win an Asian Games gold in the women's individual trap while setting a continental record. She also partnered with Kynan Darius Chenai to set an Asian-record score of 34 for gold in the trap mixed team event, and claimed team silver alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer. On the track, the quartet of Kiran Pahal, M.R. Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary, and Vithya Ramraj clinched India's sole track-and-field gold in the women's 4x400m relay, while Vithya Ramraj earned bronze in the 400m hurdles with a national record-breaking time of 54.75 seconds. Wrestler Sunil Kumar also made history by securing bronze in the Greco-Roman 87kg category, becoming the first Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to win two medals at the Asian Games.
