New Delhi: Indian women's doubles stars Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand registered a big win at the BWF World Championships 2026 on Thursday.They defeated the world No. 7 Japanese duo of Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi in the Round of 16 and are now just one win away from securing a medal.It was an excellent comeback for the Indian pair, who missed the last edition due to injury and have now reached their first-ever World Championships quarterfinal in their third appearance at the tournament.They are also the first Indian women's doubles pair to reach the World Championships quarterfinals in 11 years, since the iconic duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta achieved the feat in 2015."This is what we love and what we want to do at this level.
