India's athletes are set to compete for 11 medals across four sports on September 20, alongside key semi-final cricket and pool hockey matches at the Asian Games 2026.

India's Asian Games 2026 campaign picks up momentum on Sunday, September 20, as athletes compete across wushu, shooting, teqball, swimming, cricket, hockey, badminton, and table tennis. Following Saturday's official opening ceremony, India will contend for 11 medals across four different sporting events on Day 1.

The day begins at 5:30 AM IST with Suraj Singh Mayanglambam competing in the men's changquan wushu final. The single-round routine judged on aerial difficulty, acrobatics, and execution requires an error-free effort against stiff East Asian competition.

In shooting, the women's 10m air rifle qualification starts at 6:15 AM IST, featuring Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar, and Vidarsa K Vinod. The individual qualification doubles as the team medal event, with the top eight individual shooters advancing to the final scheduled for later in the day.

Teqball offers two podium opportunities through Quimcy Dsouza. She first faces Japan's Yuina Sakamoto in the women's singles bronze-medal match before joining Mohamed Anas Imran Beg in the mixed doubles bronze-medal playoff against Vietnam's Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen and Gia Nghi Trinh. In swimming, Benedict Rohit, Akash Mani, Rishabh Das, and Utkarsh Santosh Patil will look to navigate a tough field to reach the podium.

Outside of medal contests, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team takes on Bangladesh in the semi-finals, while both the men's and women's hockey teams launch their pool match campaigns.
