Assam’s young Wushu athlete Diksha Tiwari has made a mark on the international stage by winning three medals for India at the Batumi Open International Wushu Championship 2026 in Batumi, Georgia.
Hailing from Naduar in Assam's Biswanath district, Diksha delivered a strong showing in the Taolu events. She secured two silver medals in the Nanquan and Nandao categories, competing in southern-style barehand and broadsword routines. She also added a bronze medal in Nanquan to complete a three-medal haul for the country.
Diksha credited her success to the support of her family, coaches, and supporters who helped her reach the international stage. Her parents, Umesh Tiwari and Sabita Bharali Tiwari, played an essential role in encouraging her throughout her sporting career.
Her achievement triggered celebrations in Biswanath and across Assam, highlighting the discipline, dedication, and emerging potential of the state's young athletes in international competitions.
