Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji will undergo surgery in the coming days after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the Spanish club announced on Tuesday.
The injury occurred during the team's training session on Monday. While Barcelona confirmed the upcoming surgery, the club did not provide a timetable for the 20-year-old Swedish player's recovery.
The setback comes while Barcelona was reportedly negotiating to loan Bardghji to another club. He joined Barcelona last year from Copenhagen and has a contract with the Spanish club through 2029.
During the 2025-26 season, Bardghji made 28 competitive appearances for Barcelona, scoring two goals and adding four assists. When he initially signed, Barcelona noted that his career trajectory had previously been temporarily delayed by a knee injury that kept him out of action for almost a year.
Prior to his move to Barcelona, Bardghji won three Danish league titles and two Danish Cups during his time with Copenhagen.
