The Indian men's national football team is set to host two-time World Cup champions Uruguay for an international friendly on October 6, 2026, at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The fixture serves as India's third high-profile home match during the upcoming FIFA window.
The blockbuster clash against Uruguay will take place three days after India faces five-time World Cup champions Brazil at the same Kolkata venue on October 3. The home run kicks off on September 26, when the Blue Tigers take on 44th-ranked Panama at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) confirmed that three World Cup-playing nations will visit the country within the September 21 to October 6 FIFA international window, a period where teams can play a maximum of four matches.
The fixture in Bengaluru marks India's first appearance at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium since their SAFF Championship 2023 victory, where they lifted the title on home soil after defeating Kuwait in the final.
Uruguay, currently ranked 20th in the world and head-coached by former Mumbai City FC player Diego Forlan, complete an unprecedented lineup of international football for Indian supporters. Following the home series, the Blue Tigers are scheduled to play two away friendlies against New Zealand on November 12 and 15.
