Stadium officer P. Vengatesan confirmed preparations are moving at full speed ahead of Chennaiyin FC's expected October 31 home opener.
Chennaiyin FC's home matches for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season are expected to begin at the Nehru Stadium by the end of October. Although the league announced that the season starts on October 10, the full fixture list has not yet been released.
Speaking on Tuesday, stadium officer P. Vengatesan stated that venue preparation work is progressing at full speed and that Chennai's first match will likely take place in the final week of the month, specifically mentioning October 31. He noted that gallery work is finished, chairs have been freshly painted, and water sprinklers are ready.
To prepare the field, Chennaiyin FC plans to apply heavy fertiliser within three days to give the grass a dark-green appearance. The club is also handling barricading work inside the stadium.
Authorities are confident that all stadium preparations will be completed well before the first match. 'Whatever Chennaiyin has requested, we have given them,' Vengatesan said.
