Dravidian University launched its 10-day Dravidian Cricket League-2026 at Indira Gandhi Open Air Stadium, with Vice-Chancellor L.C. Mallaiah playing a friendly match alongside students.
Dravidian University Vice-Chancellor L.C. Mallaiah inaugurated the 10-day Dravidian Cricket League-2026 at the Indira Gandhi Open Air Stadium on the campus in Kuppam on Monday.
As part of the inauguration, the Vice-Chancellor joined students in a friendly cricket match. The league aims to promote sportsmanship and student participation in competitive games.
Addressing students and faculty, Mallaiah said regular participation in sports improves physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and leadership qualities, while also preparing students for higher-level competitions. He urged participants to excel both in university-level and inter-university tournaments.
University registrar V. Kiran Kumar said the league features 10 teams comprising both undergraduate and postgraduate students from various departments.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students attended the inaugural programme.
