After missing out on the Under-19 World Cup squad, Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Manal Chauhan bounced back through strong performances and key mentorship.
Manal Chauhan originally started playing cricket for a simple reason: to bunk school. He would tell his parents he was heading to class, but would head off to play cricket instead. Over time, as he learned about age-group cricket and state selection pathways, his casual interest transformed into a full-time passion.
The all-rounder from Morena went on to lead Madhya Pradesh to its maiden Cooch Behar Trophy title and subsequently earned an India U-19 debut on the tour of Sri Lanka, where he scored 150 and an unbeaten 51 in the second youth Test.
However, his journey faced a major hurdle when he was left out of the U-19 World Cup squad following a decent Vinoo Mankad Trophy campaign. Left demotivated by the omission, Chauhan found encouragement from his parents and coaches, who urged him to focus on the remaining opportunities.
Working on his mental toughness with Chandrakant Pandit and learning to leave mistakes behind from India U-19 coach Yere Goud, Chauhan stayed dedicated to his process. His perseverance paid off with a red-ball title for MP and another national call-up, reinforcing his belief in sticking to a strong work ethic through life's ups and downs.
