Shubman Gill slammed the fastest double century in ODI history as India chased down 406 against West Indies in Guwahati to secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

India pulled off a record-breaking chase of 406 runs to defeat West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The result marked the first successful ODI chase of over 400 runs since March 2006.

The centerpiece of India's pursuit was Shubman Gill, who hit an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls, including 26 fours and 8 sixes. Gill reached his 11th ODI hundred in 62 balls before going on to raise the fastest double century in ODI history off just 117 balls.

Gill put on a 255-run opening partnership with Rohit Sharma, marking the second-highest opening stand for India in ODIs. Rohit struck a 75-ball 101, featuring 10 boundaries and 6 sixes, to put India firmly in control of the chase.

Earlier in the day, West Indies posted a towering 405 for seven after three Caribbean batters reached triple figures. John Campbell scored a 68-ball 101, captain Shai Hope contributed 104 off 94 balls, and Amir Jangoo smashed 114 off 77 deliveries.
