Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane and manager Vincent Kompany have claimed Germany's top individual football honors for 2026 following a successful campaign with the club.
Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has been voted Germany's player of the year for 2026, while Vincent Kompany secured the top coach's award following a successful season for the Bavarian powerhouse.
Kane netted 61 goals across all competitions last season, helping Bayern defend its Bundesliga title and capture the German Cup, where he scored a hat-trick in the final. The England forward also helped Bayern win the new season's German Supercup in a 2-1 victory against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, though he did not score in the match.
In the annual poll of 659 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS), organized by Kicker magazine, Kane gathered 272 votes. He finished ahead of teammate Michael Olise, who received 203 votes. Deniz Undav secured 61 votes, followed by Bayern's Joshua Kimmich with 21 votes and Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann with 14 votes. Three invalid votes were recorded.
Vincent Kompany earned nearly half the total votes for the coach's award, placing ahead of Freiburg's Julian Schuster, who claimed the honor last year.
The player of the year accolade has been presented since 1960, with Florian Wirtz winning it last year. Franz Beckenbauer holds the record for the most player awards with four. The coach's award, established in 2002, is led by Jürgen Klopp and Felix Magath, who have each won three times.
