Captain N. Jagadeesan struck an unbeaten 90 to lead Chepauk Super Gillies to a seven-wicket win over Dindigul Dragons, while iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans chased down 207 to defeat Nellai Royal Kings.
Chepauk Super Gillies produced a clinical bowling performance before captain N. Jagadeesan’s unbeaten 90 off 58 balls powered the team to a seven-wicket victory over Dindigul Dragons in a rain-delayed Tamil Nadu Premier League match at the NPR College Ground.
Opting to field first, Super Gillies reduced the home side to 37 for three in the PowerPlay. Pacer Abhishek Tanwar took 2 for 19, getting Anuraag Nair (0) and R.K. Jayant (11) caught at mid-on, while Karthik Saran (4) was run out. Spinner Ashwanth Valthapa (2 for 20) then trapped Shivam Singh (25) and R. Vimal Khumar (21) plumb in front with carrom balls to help restrict Dindigul Dragons to 126 for eight in 20 overs.
In response, Jagadeesan anchored the chase, bringing up his fifty off 43 balls before unleashing eight fours and five sixes. He finished the game by hitting consecutive sixes off spinner Mohit Mittan, steering Chepauk to 131 for three in 16.2 overs for their first win of the season.
In the second match of the day, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans recorded an eight-wicket win over Nellai Royal Kings by chasing down a target of 207. Openers Tushar Raheja (90 n.o., 52b, 6×4, 5×6) and Amith Sathvik (76, 31b, 3×4, 8×6) set up the chase by putting together a 119-run partnership off just 52 balls.
Sathvik's assault featured a 104-metre six off leg-spinner B. Rocky—the longest of the season so far—followed by three straight maximums off the same bowler. Raheja targeted pacer Emmanuel Cherian with a four and three sixes before reaching his half-century with a cover drive off left-arm seamer S. Selvaganapathi. Tiruppur finished at 207 for two in 18.1 overs, supported by Sai Kishore's 32 not out.
Earlier, Nellai Royal Kings posted 206 for eight in 20 overs behind contributions from U. Mukilesh (46), D. Santhosh Kumar (43), and G. Ajitesh (35). For Tiruppur, R. Silambarasan picked up 4 for 46, while Sai Kishore finished with 2 for 23.
