The Indian athletics team will undergo a short acclimatisation camp at Japan's University of Tsukuba before the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The Indian athletics team will head to Japan for a short acclimatisation camp at the University of Tsukuba, near Tokyo, ahead of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya scheduled for September-October.
The move comes after the Sports Authority of India (SAI) signed an MoU with the University of Tsukuba in June to facilitate specialised training and exchange programmes for Indian athletes, coaches, and sports scientists.
The national squad will depart for Japan following their participation in the invitational Indian Athletics Final Series in New Delhi on September 10.
Meanwhile, Asian Games-bound athletes currently training at Jablonec in the Czech Republic will return home to complete a short training stint at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The venue will host the Indian Open World Athletics Silver Level Continental Tour event on August 22.
A lineup of prominent Indian athletes—including Murali Sreeshankar, Ancy Sojan, Jyothi Yarraji, Gurindervir Singh, Animesh Kujur, and Kishore Jena—is set to compete in Bhubaneswar. However, Neeraj Chopra is not expected to feature at the event, as he will be competing at the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21.
