Leeds United surged into third place in the Premier League, while Roma, Inter Milan, and Real Betis continued their strong domestic campaigns across Europe.
Leeds United delivered a dominant performance to overrun Newcastle 4-1 in the Premier League. Ao Tanaka put Leeds ahead in the 32nd minute with a shot that took a double deflection past goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek. Three minutes later, a trademark header from star man Dominic Calvert-Lewin resulted in a goal marked down to Jayden Bogle. Calvert-Lewin then grabbed his fourth goal in four games on the stroke of half-time, before Noah Okafor added a fourth with a half-volley early in the second period. Bazoumana Touré scored a final-minute consolation for Newcastle, leaving Leeds tied with Hull on eight points in third place.
In La Liga, Real Betis drew level on 12 points with second-placed Real Madrid after securing a 2-1 away victory over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Goals from Cucho Hernández and Natan sealed the win for Betis, following up their recent victories over Real Madrid and Lille. Villarreal remains winless this season, sitting third from bottom with two points from five matches.
Over in Italy's Serie A, joint leaders Roma and Inter Milan both maintained their 100% records with 12 points from four matches. Roma recorded its ninth consecutive victory with a 2-0 win against Torino, courtesy of Donyell Malen's sixth goal in four games and a stoppage-time strike from Niccolò Pisilli.
Inter Milan staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Udinese 5-3 despite falling behind to early goals from James Abankwah and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp. Carlos Augusto sparked the revival with a 30-yard strike, followed by goals from Nicolo Barella, Marcus Thuram, Francesco Pio Esposito, and Ange-Yoan Bonny. In another Serie A fixture, Como moved into third place alongside Lazio on 10 points after defeating Parma 2-1.
