Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has publicly asked Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for help in purchasing land to shift his base from Delhi to his home state.
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant publicly reached out to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday (August 8, 2026), requesting assistance to acquire land in his native state so he can move his base from Delhi and build his first home.
In two posts addressed to Mr. Dhami on X, Pant shared that he has been searching for three years to find suitable land that is "facilitating and big" to live in. He also mentioned awaiting land he claims was promised to him while promoting the state in the past.
"I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand," Pant wrote, expressing a desire "to move back to my native place to help and built around Uttarakhand" and rejoin his "Pahadi people."
In a follow-up post, Pant clarified that he prefers buying the land directly from the government at official rates rather than receiving it as a gift. "A gift would be lovely for representation out states at the highest level internationally stages but if you allow me I wanna buy it from Government and on there rates," he noted, adding that he was uncertain about how to navigate the purchasing process.
Chief Minister Dhami responded on X in Hindi, calling the cricketer "the pride of Uttarakhand" who has brought fame to "Devbhoomi" on both national and international stages. Describing Pant's wish to return and contribute as commendable, Mr. Dhami stated that instructions have been issued to officials to contact Pant and provide all possible assistance "in accordance with the rules."
The 28-year-old cricketer currently represents Delhi in domestic cricket while remaining a key player in India's Test setup. He is presently in Colombo with the India A squad for a three-day unofficial Test against Sri Lanka Cricket XI ahead of India's two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins in Galle on August 15.
