Japanese competitors dominated the Shore Temple Classic QS 2000 and Pro Junior events on Thursday at Mahabalipuram Beach, advancing to the decisive stages across multiple categories.
Japan maintained its commanding presence at the Shore Temple Classic QS 2000 and Pro Junior on Thursday, with the nation's surfers advancing to the final stages at Mahabalipuram Beach.
In the Men’s QS 2000, Ryuichi Inoue posted the top score in the Round of 32 with a 13.17, while Shohei Kato delivered the standout performance of the Round of 16 with a score of 14.50. Japan's Tenshi Iwami (13.90) and Ikko Watanabe (12.73) also put up strong numbers. India’s Kishore Kumar advanced from the Round of 32 with a 10.00 score, but missed out on a quarterfinal spot after scoring 9.13 in the Round of 16.
In the Women’s QS 2000 competition, Mirai Ikeda of Japan topped the Round of 16 with a score of 13.60, followed by compatriot Sara Wakita, who posted 13.17.
Japan's dominance extended to the Women’s Pro Junior, where Anri Matsuno registered the highest quarterfinal score with 14.00. India’s P. Kamali also featured in the quarterfinals, finishing with a score of 5.73.
