Vida Kovai Kings comfortably chased down Chepauk Super Gillies' target of 168 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium to record a five-wicket win in TNPL-10.
Vida Kovai Kings made short work of Chepauk Super Gillies at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, securing a five-wicket victory in their TNPL-10 fixture after successfully chasing down 168 in 18.5 overs.
After being asked to bat first, Chepauk Super Gillies endured a sluggish PowerPlay, reaching 48 for three without hitting a single six. Early rash shots from skipper N. Jagadeesan and Mokit Hariharan off M. Siddharth (two for 24) and R. Divakar put CSG on the back foot, while K. Aashiq was run out following a swift direct hit from G. Kishoor at mid-off.
CSG mounted a recovery through an 80-run fourth-wicket stand between Impact Player Ram Arvindh (63 off 32 balls) and Swapnil Singh (20 off 19 balls). However, Siddharth castled Ram Arvindh to leave CSG at 101 for four in 10.3 overs, initiating a collapse in which wickets fell in clusters on either side of the partnership. A late cameo from No. 8 Dinesh Raj (32 off 18 balls) helped propel CSG to 167 in 19.3 overs, while R.S. Ambrish led the bowling effort for Kovai Kings with three for 22.
In reply, Kovai Kings remained largely in control thanks to strong contributions from their top order. S. Radhakrishnan smashed 38 off 18 balls, while S. Lokeshwar (40 off 39) and B. Sachin (37 off 23) kept the chase well on track. Despite a minor middle-order stumble where VKK lost three wickets for 13 runs, skipper Shahrukh Khan delivered a brief cameo to seal the win with seven balls to spare.
