Trichy Grand Cholas registered a 28-run DLS victory against Dindigul Dragons at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium following strong performances from openers K. Rajkumar and J. Suresh Kumar.
After getting bowled out for 85 and suffering a 116-run defeat to Vida Kovai Kings in Dindigul, Trichy Grand Cholas redeemed themselves at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by defeating Dindigul Dragons by 28 runs.
Asked to bat first, Grand Cholas saw a 45-minute rain interruption reduce the match to 19 overs per side. Openers K. Rajkumar (71 off 42 balls) and J. Suresh Kumar (60 off 41 balls) laid the foundation with a 118-run opening stand. Quick runs from Jafar Jamal (21 off 9) and Sanjay Yadav (33 not out) propelled Grand Cholas to 197 for four in 19 overs, while Viju Arul took 2 for 30 for the Dragons.
Chasing a revised DLS target of 199 in 19 overs, Dindigul Dragons built a 43-ball, 73-run second-wicket partnership through Shivam Singh (47) and B. Indrajith (32). However, Antony Dhas turned the game by removing both set batters to finish with 3 for 25.
K. Easwaran sealed the victory for Grand Cholas with figures of 4 for 25, restricting Dindigul Dragons to 170 for eight in 19 overs despite an unbeaten 34 from Impact Player R.K. Jayant.
