England secured their first home Test series victory in two years on Sunday (August 30, 2026), defeating Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord's.
Resuming day four on 177-7 following a rain-affected Saturday, England were bowled out for 208 after Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas took five wickets to clean up the tail. Set an unlikely target of 389, Pakistan's chase quickly faltered as they were reduced to 14-3 before lunch.
Ollie Robinson sparked the early collapse by trapping Azan Awais lbw and striking Abdullah Shafique's top of off stump three balls later, leaving Pakistan reeling at 7-2. Jofra Archer added to Pakistan's troubles before lunch when captain Babar Azam fended off a bouncer, edging the ball via his helmet to Jordan Cox at third slip.
Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel mounted a recovery, steering Pakistan to their highest score of the series. Robinson eventually removed Masood for 26 after lunch, but Shakeel continued to attack, hitting 13 fours and two sixes in a knock of 97. Shakeel fell three runs short of a century when he was caught by Harry Brook off Josh Tongue near the deep square leg boundary.
With Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq unable to bat due to an injury sustained in the field on Thursday, England needed only nine wickets to seal the match. Tongue completed the victory by dismissing Mohammad Ali. Robinson finished with second-innings figures of 4 for 24, adding to his 4 for 11 in the first innings and taking his total to 16 wickets across the two Tests.
The third and final Test of the series is scheduled to begin at Edgbaston on September 9.
